JERRY STILLER and wife Anne Meara were on top of the comedy game in the 1960s. Eight seasons as Frank Costanza and his character star was reborn. Nominated for a 1997 Emmy Award and the recipient of the 1998 American Comedy Award, Stiller found back-to-back sitcom hits with "The King of Queens" (1998) as the irascible Arthur Spooner. He has also appeared in a number of his successful son, Ben Stiller's, comedy pictures including Heavy Weights (1995) and Zoolander (2001). His autobiography "Married to Laughter" came out in 2000.
Since he entered the national comedy scene in 1961, comedian and civil rights activist, Dick Gregory used social satire to change the way white Americans perceived African American comedians. Through the 1960s, Gregory spent much of his time on social issues, supporting a range of causes, including opposition to the Vietnam War, world hunger, and drug abuse. lRWlN COREY is a product of the night clubs, bistros and radio, where he has been practicing his special brand of surrealistic comedy under the soubriquet "The World's Foremost Authority." In the words of internationally known theatre critic Kenneth Tynan, Corey is "a cultural clown, a parody of literacy, a travesty of all that our civilization holds dear and one of the funniest grotesques in America. He is Chaplin's clown with a college education." Corey gained prominence in television on the talk shows of Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Ed Sullivan. He has appeared on Jackie Gleason's show as a regular with Jayne Mansfield and Frank Fontaine, as well as on the Sgt. Bilko, Andy Griffith, Andy Williams, The Smothers Brothers, Dick Cavett, Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Pat Boone, Joe Franklin, and David Letterman shows. Mort Sahl, Dick Gregory, and Professor Irwin Corey will draw on their collective 250 years of experience to keep us all entertained on Sat., March 6th at the historic (only 125 years old) Tarrytown Music Hall. |
